1160 Doors Needing Repair

Residents,

The front door to the lobby does not latch, and it thus causes concerns for the 1160 building. Therefore, we as an association recommend the following actions:

  1. Tenants should fill out the form letter linked below (including apartment number), and then sign and date the letter.
  2. Tenants should then either mail the letter to the address located in the top left of the letter, or they should deliver the letter to the office in person during office hours on Monday. This cannot be emailed, and must be served on paper.

This letter will serve as proper notice to a landlord to file a rent escrow action if a tenant wishes to pursue this action.

If the landlord follows through and fixes the problem permanently, then clearly you will continue to pay your rent to the landlord. If they do not, you may file, but are not obligated, to the district court for a rent escrow action.

Paying your rent to the district court instead of the landlord means putting your rent into escrow. This rent is then released if the landlord can prove to the district court that they had made the repairs. If they do not make the proper repairs while the rent is in escrow, then this rent is not given to the landlord.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email BurlingtonResidentAssociation@gmail.com. Please email if you need the letter printed as well!

Thank you, The Burlington Resident Association
